On the refurbishment a great deal of work is required in order to change its usage from purely residential as a convent to the now proposed office/activity use. This will include making it disabled compliant, Fire Safety Compliant as well as the more substantive light, heat and internal layout/décor builders work. The convent building in Gladstone Street is ideally situated in the Town Centre within easy reach of most services and convenient to people living in and around the town. Structurally the building is good but because of dampness and neglect there is some work required in terms of dry rot and infestation protection – this work is being carried out at an early stage.
